Microplastics everywhere, not from our products

Plastic was a great invention that added much value to our lives due to its cost and versatility.

That’s why plastic production has increased from 2 million tonnes in 1950 to over 460 million tonnes, more than doubling in the last two decades.

A great product, when massively produced without considering how to process it after use, can end up being a significant problem. Essentially, after usage, only 9% is recycled, 19% is incinerated, and 50% is sent to sanitary landfills, while the remaining 22% is either uncontrollably dumped, burned in open pits, or leaked into the environment.

Every year, 19 to 23 million tonnes of plastic waste leak into aquatic ecosystems, polluting lakes, rivers, and seas.

Mismanaged plastic waste has become a significant threat to the environment and human health worldwide. Different chemicals can potentially leach from our plastic water bottles, clothes, and dermatological products to enter our bodies.

Furthermore, micro- and nano-plastics have been detected at all levels of the food chain. These are being linked to serious health issues such as endocrine disruption, weight gain, decreased reproductive health, and even cancer.

What is more disturbing is the fact that we still do not understand all the long-term health effects it may have on future generations. Scientists are still studying the potential long-term and short-term harmful effects of plastics on human health.

An overwhelming amount of research is revealing that we eat, breathe, and drink microplastics. Found throughout the human body, we are facing a serious health risk.

These particles can circulate through the body and potentially accumulate in various organs.

A new study in Nature Medicine finds that micro- and nano-plastics accumulate at higher levels in the human brain than in the liver and kidneys. Concentrations were higher in samples from 2024 compared to 2016, and even higher in the brains of individuals diagnosed with dementia.

Although more research is required to establish cause-and-effect relationships, concern about the risks of plastic exposure is rising.

Why should we risk using these products? Especially when there could be more efficient alternatives and probably safer.

Urgent action is required across sectors.

Thus, we are creating this alternative for products we use every day. To avoid using or producing any plastic through our products. For those who aspire to healthier lifestyles. Who chase better. Who go the extra mile. Who push past limits. Who will not settle. For those… If MAJESTUOS is not for you, that’s fine. But we’ll try not to contribute to the problem and offer a convenient alternative.
